WMP 10 Problem - Please Help

I tried to use WMP today and, for some reason, it simply won't open. There is no error message or noise or anything, it just won't open. I've tried rolling it back to WMP 9 using Add/Remove in the control panel, but that didn't help. I also tried reinstalling the WMP 10 upgrade.

Also, for some reason, it has been removed from the list of available programs in the "Open With" submenu that appears when you right click on a media file (winamp, realplayer, etc are still there.) If I click on "choose program" from within this submenu, WMP is not listed.

I tried Microsoft tech support, but they won't help me unless I pay $35.00. Anyone here have any idea how I can fix this problem? Thanks in advance for your help.
