I was holding out to see what the zune2 80gig was going to offer in terms of formats and was hoping that it would support Flac (even though I knew it wasn't likely) but it does support wma lossless.

So I was wondering if there is any difference at all between the 2 formats. I've ripped a few cds into flac and I like the small-ish file sizes, so how does wma lossless compare to in file size? Also, would I be able to recode the flac files into wma lossless without degrading the quality? I've had no experience with wma lossless so I'm kinda lost.

lossless is lossless, so you can transcode between them as much as you like. I (and I think most other people who use lossless) use flac for the sole reason that it is reasonably fast, produces reasonably good filesizes, and is open source and one of the most well supported lossless formats (rockbox etc).

If you have a specific need for another lossless format (zune), then go ahead and use that lossless format.
