Hello,
My network consists of a WRT54GS, two wired computers, and two wireless laptops which are occasionally wired. My problem is that I cannot get the two laptops two communicate with each other, ie, their shared folders are not visible in "My Network Places." The wired computer can see them and they can see it, yet the laptops cannot see each other. The laptops can access the internet. The laptops can ping their respective wireless connections, but cannot ping the wired computer, nor can the one laptop ping the others ethernet connection. The wired computer can ping all four. I have uninstalled all software firewalls for the time being. Any thing else needed? What do I need to do?
 
What OS'es we talking about? Are they within workgroups? Did you setup shares and permissions right? What brand of wireless NICs? Did you do driver updates? Did you shut of Win XP SP2 firewall crap COMPLETELY?
 
I managed to get it working. First I stopped using the "Unknown Internet Connection Sharing Device" in the network setup wizard and set it to connect via a residential gateway. Then I modified the registry to specify the NetBios nodetype as hybrid. Systems can now communicate, firewalls are reinstalled, all is right with the world.
