i am wanting to find out how to wire up a random LCD screen and use it as a case mod, for example if i have an LCD from a cell phone or somthing, is there a way to get that to work?

You need a controller board...

If you want something small, you can look into the 7-9" screens they put on ebay for carputers... those have boards built -in and PSU's

Just takes some modding from there...

It's basically what handles the input to be displayed on the screen.

You can get a screen powered without much issue (Inverter + backlight which is usually built-in) but getting from a VGA or whatever signal to display an actual image is the tough part.

Not something most people will DIY, they'll just buy pre-made kits and modify them.

The issue is that most LCD panels use very different controller boards to drive them, so there isn't one universal kind, no standard input signal or so. 'Holy Grail' isn't a bad description.
