wireless router and card question

do i have to use the same network card and wireless router and can i use 2 different brands...
looking for the cheapest for what im looking for

In most cases you can use different brands, but there's no guarantee you will get the best performance when intermixing brands. Also, some vendors use proprietary extensions to the standards in order to get more throughput out of the connection (i.e. supporting 802.11g for 108 Mbps instead of the normal 54 Mbps) which only works when you use products from the same brand that support it.
