Wireless option (enable radio)

Hello,

I recently purchased a new wireless card for my laptop. On the software that came wit the card, there is an option of "ENABLE RADIO". What does this mean. It works with it checked or not.

wireless cards are radio based. enabling it enables the card to communicate.
