I prefer the look of the linksys one, plus im a linksys buff. Thats just my opinion I havnt worked with either of them, I wasnt even aware linksys had their one out yet!

Both are new to me also. Any reviews of them online? The one with speakers built-in seem a little gimmicky, unless you're big on the 'sound-like-crap' microboombox stuff.

I have to agree on the speakers , I though they looked cheap but I think they added to the look of the thing - that was what appealed to me.

ya, the netgear one has been out for awhile. i work at circuit city and the linksys one showed up yesterday, so naturally i was intrigued. the speakers are detachable and i probably would rarely if ever use them. i plan on using one for my home audio set up.

the reviews are mixed on the netgear. most of the problems being syncing with the server computer. but then others have NO trouble. there are even less reviews for the linksys yet. but supposedly sound quality is AWESOME with these things and at 1122 shipped from buy.com i'm thinking of making the jump on the netgear.

I hope you mean 112$ shipped, not 1122! =]

Yea, sound quality should be really good, as long as the DAC's in your receiver are up to par. I'd get the Linksys one cause of the digital out, I'm sure my reciever's 192Khz, 24bit DAC's in dual differential mode are a little nicer than the internal ones =]
