wireless mouse and keyboard combo

i was wondering if you could buy a wireless mouse & keyboard combo and get rid of the moust and use another corded mouse? or would you then have to get rid of the keyboard too?

No.

You can have more than one mouse attached to a computer via USB, hence you can remove the wireless mouse and still use the corded one.

I have an MS Wireless Optical Desktop Pro (the Natural, ergonmic keyboard) and it includes keyboard and mouse. I've used my previous MS Natural Keyboard Pro on it at the same time and had no problem.

However, I should advise you there's no reason to use corded if you've got a good wireless set like this one or the logitech one with the MX700 built-in. These wireless mice are good enough now that there's little to no difference between it and a wired.

To be honest, for me there's no difference, though I'm sure some maniac is going to come in here and argue with me if I don't at least allow that there are a select few who somehow manage to "feel" a difference. And as Obi-Wan felt a disturbance in the Force when Alderaan was destroyed, so would they feel a disturbance if I didn't put the proviso that indeed there may be a few, scattered, strange lonely people who find themselves just hating the feel of the wirelessness.

But I see no difference whatsoever and I've used just about every generation of optical mouse that has come out with a wire before this. The previous wireless had a lagtime. This one does not. On the plus side, the MS version of both keyboard and mouse uses regular batteries, AA's I think. I have too many devices. It might be AAA's. Either way, its those standard ones. And I got this set for Christmas. I just replaced the batteries about a week or so ago. So I'd say six months is a sweet, long time to have them without them going out. You also have a little indicator that advises you that your batteries are low well in advance in case you want to go for a while without. You can even run both devices with just one battery if you like, though of course it'll drain faster.

The set went well with my Lian Li case, my Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 Ultra's and my Dell FP2001. Silver and black, silver and black... oh how I love the silver and blaaack...

well i like wireless everything also, but i heard that the mx700 that comes with the LOGITECH MX DUO is a little bit to bulky. If this would help i would use my computer for Gaming and Browsing the Internet mostly.

The MX700 has a very ergonomic shape but if you plan to use it, make sure you get the RIGHT mousepad. I have tried using the MX700 on 3M Precise Mousing Surface, 3M Precise OPTICAL Mousing Surface, countless of generic mousepads and all of them gave me tracking problems. I just bought the MX 510 today and guess what, I still get tracking problems, albeit less often. It's disappointing considering that my old Logitech Cordless Mouseman works without a hitch on all those mousepads.

If you wish to use those "high performance" be prepared to shell out big bucks for "high performance" mousepads. Well even that don't guarantee that you will not encounter tracking problems....

p/s. go for the cordless optical mouseman if you are willing to sacrifice performance for stability.

i dunno what kinds of mousepads you were using, but i was using a generic mousepad with tweety bird on it ^_^ and my mx700 worked fine, and that mousepad is almost 8 years old! now i'm using a new generic mousepad, i think made by fellowes or something, and it's got a black and white picture of a puppy on it, and it still works like the day i got it. i've seen a lot of people in the case modding gallery using rat padz and other stuff like that, but i don't think it's necessary. just find one with solid colors and a non reflective surface.
