Is there any way to make a External harddrive wireless? So that it would show up in 'My Computer' when not actually tethered to the computer?

I currently work on a database that I save to my external HDD because of size constraints on my laptop, but I'd like to be able to do live updates from other areas of my house. Is this possible?

Google "Wireless NAS" and you will get several results.. D-Link and Iomega both make one I know.

You could hook it up to another computer and share it over the wireless network or get a router that supports sharing USB drives.

or if you have a wireless network, a standard NAS will work on it connected via Ethernet.

Thanks for the replies. Was particularly looking to not have to buy another piece of hardware but I'll look into NAS regardless.

well you can just share it via windows file sharing.. Then just leave it plugged into the computer that is doing the "serving"
