Wireless Gaming Mouse?

I've been looking for a good wireless gaming mouse for years with no luck.

I had the Logitech G7 in like 2008, and it was the best mouse I've ever used. The reason being, it came with two batteries; one charged while the other ran the mouse. When the battery died, you just swapped them. It was perfect until it finally died, and I found out they'd discontinued it.

I have the G700 now, and god do I hate this thing. The battery dies all the time, so I'm constantly playing with the cable connected, which is just awful.

Is there any solution, short of buying two mice, that will let me play without worrying about the battery dying while I'm playing?

All of the new gaming wireless mice use the same method now. But you can replace the battery, it uses just one AA. It just isn't convenient as popping it out and swapping a new one in like the G7 gun clip.

I have the G700 and I don't have any problem with mine lasting the whole day without being plugged in, but I charge it every night while I sleep because my PC still supplies USB power even when it is off. If yours doesn't you could alternatively use a usb phone charger to charge your mouse while you are sleeping.

yo xavierq, the G700 use sanyo eneloops as default (sometimes rebranded), just get a external charger with a few spare batteries and leave that damn cable in the box. also, setting the polling rate to 500 make it last some good 8-10hrs of heavy gaming.

Microsoft X8 is the one I am using at the moment, and I am really loving it. Didn't expect this with a wireless mouse. Very responsive, extremely long battery life, (using 2800 mA batteries), big enough for my hand but indeed, I would replace the feet with corepad ones and I would prefer a bit less slippery sides, so that I can grab it easier.

I've got a performance MX, and while it may not feature a bunch of extra 'gaming keys' it is still an extremely accurate, low latency, and super-high battery life mouse. Honestly this thing goes a week or two on one full charge, and I use it all the time.

Feels fantastic too. (I have large hands so that might be a factor to consider)

G700 has very short battery life but that's because it's always on. Charge it every other night before you go to sleep. Alternatively, any rechargeable AA will work. I wouldn't give it up for any other wireless mouse.

Plus, any other decent one will also eat batteries. You can't have both performance and efficiency.

You could always go back to wired. Seems like there is a better selection of wired gaming mice, they're lighter usually and cheaper and you don't ever have to hassle with batteries. Pretty much all wireless mice are gonna have battery issues if you have long gaming sessions.

Another +1 for keep the G700, it sounds like you like it and just hate the battery life. I have the sanyo eneloop charger plugged into my wall within arms reach of my desk. Its trivial to change out 1 battery with 4 fresh ones always on standby. If you remember to change it before a gaming session when you havent changed it in a day or so then you really never run out in the middle of a battle.

+1 for the G700. I bought the Apple Charger that comes with six re-branded eneloop batteries at Best Buy because I couldn't order online.

I also use my Samsung phone charger which has a really thin and flexible cable.

I'll see about keeping a separate charger on hand for external batteries, and maybe I've got the dpi too high. I plug it in to charge every night, but it never seems to last through the next day. I feel like I only get a few hours out of it.

Your battery is probably just bad if it only lasts a few hours on a full charge.

Yeah I get 8-10 hours out of mine after a full charge. I 2nd the suggestion of getting some new batteries and trying them out.

Hey one thing that dawned on me today, when you charge your mouse overnight make sure you flip the switch on the bottom to OFF. Leaving it on doesnt seem to let it charge very well and I noticed mine wouldnt hold a charge that long but if I turn it off at night while its charging then itll last a lot longer. Worth a shot.

I have a G700 and my battery tends to last me maybe about 3 full days of about 6-7 hours per day.

- I'm using a 2850mah Energizer AA. Not sure if it actually helped, but it was a cheap try.
- I turn the mouse off when charging it, I use a USB phone charger for this.
- I've set the power management to Power Saver and I use a 250 Hz polling rate. I've read that high polling rate is a major battery drain and I honestly can't tell the diff between 250 and 1000 anyway.

The only problem I've had with the mouse was the common double click issue which disappeared after awhile, and recently, the self release when holding down the right click, but updating drivers fixed that for me.

I've just bought a second one. :)

Would rather deal with batteries than deal with a stupid wire.

Using the g700 here as well and I'm not impressed at its battery life either. Also have a performance mouse mx that lasts forever and a g7 on its last legs. Frankly the g7 is just a better gaming mouse. Unfortunately while the mouse works great all but 1 of the lithium battery packs started to swell. With no way to replace them I had to get the g700. I am starting to use the performance mx more just because the g700 is a battery hog and only seems marginally better than the mx on my mouse surface.

I'm not a fan of Razer, but in the wireless gaming mouse market, the Ouroboros is an option.

MX as in MX-518? Doesn't it only have a maximum DPI of like 1600? I'm currently using the G700 myself and as long as you charge it every couple of days, you should do fine. It's one of the most comfortable gaming mice I've used and I've tried a ton of other mice like the DeathAdder, Cooler Master's Storm Xornet and SteelSeries Sensei. I have 2 of these G700s, one for work on my laptop and another for gaming on my desktop and I absolutely love them. :)
