wireless gamepad problem

I have a logitech wireless gamepad that I am using on my system....the problem i have is that windowsxp pro acts like nothing is plugged into the usb port I have the gamepads reciever on after a restart....I have to unplug it and plug it back in to make it work, and after that it's fine untill i restart the computer again and then i have to do it again.

I have a thrustmaster wireless gamepad as well and it doesn't have this problem....also I can plug the logitech controller into my other computer and it doesn't have this problem so thats why I don't really know if it's the motherboard or the controller or windows causing the problem?

If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears :confused:

Abit KR7 mobo
512 megs ram
1900+ cpu
ati radeon 7500 vcard
nothing is overclocked and the system is stable, all usb ports are working with no problems..I have the controller reciever plugged into a back panel port....I've gone through the bios and found nothing obvious that might cause the problem I'm having.
 
tried a few more things tonite.

I uninstalled the wingman profiler software to eliminate that as a cause.
I went into device manager and uninstalled all the usb and restarted windows so it would have to reinstall the drivers for usb.

no change.

It has to be some kind of interaction between the logitech reciever and my motherboard....I can plug in my thrustmaster controllers reciever on the same usb port and it works when windows starts just fine so that means the usb on my mobo is working properly.

On the other hand I can plug the logitech reciever into my other computers usb and the controller works just fine after windows starts up so it's not that the reciever is broken either.

That means that the Abit KR7 mobo doesn't like something about the logitech reciever, it's like the mobo isn't getting a signal from the reciever to let it know that it's plugged in when the system starts with it attached if that makes sense?


I'm really suprised know one has any ideas on this?...sureley someone has used a logitech wireless controller on a KR7 mobo other than me that could verify if this problem is unique to my setup or not?

I'm gonna try to get that pci usb card working...I'll try moving it to a different pci slot and see if thats why it's not working right.
 
alright...I just found out something they may help narrow down the problem.

when I turned off the computer to move the usb card to a different slot I flipped the switch on the ps off and it was off for about 2 minutes...when i restarted with the reciever still plugged into the mobo's usb header the reciever turned on like it's supposed too...I shutdown and restarted the computer several times and it did not come back on again so I shut it down again and flipped the power switch off for a second or two and back on and restarted and the reciever still didn't come on...I shutdown again and this time left the switch off for about two minutes again (long enough for any residual power in the capacitors to drain off I assume) and started up and the reciever came on again.

so this means it is a power issue of some sort that only this mobo has and that only the logitech reciever has a problem with and only with this particular mobo.

This I think is the root of the problem I'm having and I don't know where to go from here so hopefully someone has an idea of whats going on?
