Wireless desktop card?

I'm in search for a wireless desktop card, preferably PCI. I'm in my basement and my USB D-link adapter only gets 2 or 3 bars though my laptop gets 5 full bars. Both are wireless g. Budget would be between $50-$100 CAD
 
I think the OP was looking for a PCI based adapter. The problem with the USB dongle adapters is the antennas in them are pretty tiny. Your laptop probably has bigger internal antennas running along the screen, thus giving it the better reception.

I see you have a $50-100 CAD budget. That's a lot more then I would spend on an 802.11G WIFI card. You could give this one a try:

I have this one, its not the best in the world, but its cheap and gets the job done. The external antenna is nice too so you can get it away from your PC case.

Just FYI: The signal strength meter is really worthless. Real world performance is much more important: time it takes to transfer a file, ping times back to your router, dropped packets, etc.
