Got a user unable to access wireless on one pc in a home networking solution with a Linksys router and it shows they have a signal strenth of good down below but when attempting to open a webpage it says "page cannot be displayed" tried IPCONFIG and shows all zeros, media disconnected, tried to renew and it hangs. I just need a list of steps of what to check and troubleshoot to exhaust all my options. Also not sure if they are on XP or 2K so treat it in respect to both when brainstorming your thoughts.

does the wireless network have a key to authenticate?? does said user have that key?

it looks like you user is not authenticating to the network...thus the lack of an ip

Edit: I'm no wireless expert, so take with a grain of salt. Maybe this should be moved to the Networking sub-forum

Definitely sounds like the security / encryption problem. The card has detected the network, but can't "talk" to it.

It wouldn't hurt to also scan for spyware/adware.... It's been known to cause TCP/IP problems.
