Wireless Adaptor question

I'm going to buy another wireless adaptor and in the past have always bought the same brand as my router. My question is does the wireless adaptor have to be the same brand as the router? For example if my router brand is D-Link, could I use a Linksys wireless adaptor with it?

They don't have to be the same brand at all. The only issues that you might run into is that some of the speedbooster products may not work well with others, as well as some of the pre-n products.
