The short answer is they're all wireless LAN standards governed by the IEEE. 802.11a 5 Ghz (current hardware is 5.1-5.3 Ghz specifically. Uses OFDM as the modulation type. 802.11b 2.4 Ghz Uses CCK. 802.11g 2.4 Ghz Uses OFDM at 54 Mb. CCK at 11 Mb.
