A buddy of mine has an Tbird 1.2 that loves to selectively BSOD (automatically restart is disabled, because it causes rage-induced heart attacks) ONLY on certain important applications. (Such as all BitTorrent activity...)

I replaced his ps with an Antec Smartpower 350watt a year ago, and the system is cooled effectively with an outake fan [temps nominal for stock HSF].

He's running a relatively clean install of WinXP, but updates [including SP1] have not been installed.

Chipset is Via KT266 with latest drivers (although I'm not sure on the BIOS...it's an MSI board.)

As to other components, theres a Gainward gf2 Ti, a 120GB WD HDD, a Linksys NIC, an some scheise-rific integrated sound.

Anybody have any past experience with this?

I guess I should prolly update the BIOS and get SP1, as well...

The first thing I'd suggest is getting all updates, is there a reason it doesn't have any installed? The only thing I can think of is that it's pirated, or that he has a connection so slow you don't want to have to go through downloading them... But yeah, I'd run Windows Update.
