WinVista makes *everything* in my HDDs "Read Only"....

Everything.
Desktop.
Multiple partitions.
My EXTERNAL HDD.

Everything's marked as "Read only" and i can't change any permissions that would allow me to remove everything.

I'm in a panic right now. Someone help me out here?

You need to take ownership of the files.

I'm always stumped as to why people change usernames and/or passwords when installing a new system. If you keep those the same, you won't ever run into these take ownership issues.

If you're talking about when you check the properties of a folder and see that the Read-only checkbox is in the partially-checked state, then don't fret.. that's normal.
