Windows Xp won't login help!!

Damnit all.

Here’s my story.

One month ago i had to reformat my computer. (I got a virus that wiped it). I found my
cd, but not my cd key. So i reformated my computer and got it up and running.
I loged on and it said i had to “activate windows withen 30 days”. I Ignored it for a
couple of days, installed all my old programs, sp2, ect. So i finialy decided to activate it I
scrambled for a while to find my cd key, but i couldn’t find it anywhere. So i went to the
dark side, i used a registry hack. It worked.

However a week ago i loged on, and it said “This copy of windows must be activated
with microsoft within the next seven days. Do you want to activate windows now?”. It
gave me two options “yes”, and “no”. I clicked on yes and it brought me to the
“Windows product activation”.. It said “windows is already activated. Click “ok” to exit.
I clicked ok and it loged me on. Each day this past week when i loged on it gave me the
amount of time remaining till windows needed to be activated. Some times i clicked
“yes” and it would say “windows has already been activated” and sometimes i clicked
“no”, and it just loged me on.

Finialy we get to today. I go to log on and it says “This copy of windows must be
activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?”

If i click yes; “windows is already activated. Click OK to exit.” i hit ok and it logs me
off.
If i click no; it keeps me at the login screen.

However there is a shimmer of hope, i can log on in safe mode, and safe mode only. So
please, some one help me. I didn’t pirate windows, i paid my money. This is just not fair.
 
You could try and reinstall windows with your legit key. A repair install may do it, but I am not sure.

Obviously it did not.

I know it's the problem..... But i need a solution, reformating again is not an option.
 
Does anyone know how to fix my registry so i can at least put in the cd key?
 
Without having your CD-key entered, you won't be able to use something like Magic JellyBean to recover it. It also sounds like you borked things even more by trying the registry hack. It seems like you're out of options besides finding your CD key. Then, since you'll be re-installing, take this opportunity to slipstream SP2.
