I was wondering if someone could help me with a quick question?

At school the wireless network is DHCP but at home I need a static IP (as I've disabled DHCP on my router). I have the IP set under Alternate Configuration so it all works ok. My question is: is there any way to speed up the time before windows defaults to the static IP specified under the alternate connections?

Some information about my system in case it's needed.
Windows XP service pack 2
Windows is controling my wiresless conection settings
The card is an Intel Pro/Wireless LAN 2100 3A mini PCI

Nope, the alternate address isn't used until DHCP request times out, there is no built in way to automatically use the alternate address any faster.

Why not enable DHCP at home?
