My school has this thing called the MSDN Academic
Alliance Program from Microsoft nd along with a ton of different software i can download windows vista business and windows XP pro and windows XP pro 64bit but they say it is Single User version,

does that mean you can only make one user profile on the machine?

I doubt it - I expect it just means that it's a copy for a single user, as opposed to a volume license for more than one user (simultaneously). I've never heard of restrictions on the number of user accounts you can have.

No. It just means that you are legally allowed one copy per person (or I guess one copy per MSDNAA account). You can use as many profiles as you want.
