We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Hi All: I'm going to build a Windows XP based system to play some older games on. Windows XP as we all know is going away April 8th. My question is if I decided to build another XP rig down the road, will MS still give you access to the final updates?

Soon after the final update I'm sure you will be able to download a modified ISO including all updates that you can then activate with you XP key.

Not releasing any future updates = going away?

It might be worth it to image the drive of your XP box after April 8th, so you can get it back to that point quickly and easily if you end up with a malware infection or something down the line.

You'll likely be able to continue downloading the older windows updates for a while, but not forever. Take Windows Me for example... Windows Me came out less than a year before XP did... yet it's already been about a half-dozen years or so since you have been able to even access the windows update site via Windows Me. I don't believe Windows 2000 has worked with Windows update for a while now either.

Though over time I would expect driver support to become the biggest issue really.
