I get to the blue screen where it says windows setup


windows is loading files (windows setup)

and it stays there no mather which cd I take for installtion or which cd rom I use..

(my hd had an old version of xp install on it I wanna get to that F8 thingy to install a new one )

what could cause windows to freeze there??

I really need my comp could anyone help me out with this.. thanks
 
restart and hit F8 and turn off restart on system failure, next time it blue screens write the error down and post it
 
If it's freezing during your setup, I would run some hardware diagnostics, mainly on the memory and the hard drive.

You also need to be a little more clear on the situation if you want help. I'm assuming you are trying to install XP, but is your old version of XP still bootable? By F8 thingy, do you mean Safe Mode? Do you have your data backed up? If this is the case, I'd run the hardware diags, and then use some utlity to blank your hard drives, like gdisk, and start over.
 
I hit F8 and it keeps going to boot on cd.. so I ge tno option to put system failure off
 
For some reasons my older version of windows dosent boot even in safe mode it dosent go. ( because i changed my mobo cpu and memory ) thats why I wanted a fresh install of windows but it freezes and how do I run gdisk where can I get that program?

I dont mind losing my data

I only want my comp to work :)
 
If you don't mind losing any data, I'd wipe the drives clean and start over with the CD. Make sure your BIOS is set to boot from a CD.
 
its set too boot from cd the problem is on the cd WINDOWS SETUP

gets stuck on windows is loading setup files
 
Had this problem on a customers computer. Our error was that the video was unsupported, so it'd get to a certain file, freeze for 20seconds or so, then give us the BSOD. We put in a spare 9200 and voila.

Which is why I suggested running the two hardware diags, and then wiping the drives clean. It's fine to come here asking for help...we welcome that. However, you have to be willing to try the suggestions we give you, or else we'll all just be sitting around, treading water.
 
take the cd out first, than do the F8, need a error code for that blue screen
