Windows XP Pro Troubles

I have a computer that has 2 hard drives in it. One hard drive is the one that Windows is installed on it. The other I have been using for storage space. The windows one is 30 GB the other is 60 GB.

I formated the one with windows on it and put windows XP pro back on it. When I did this, windows sees the second drive, but it wont let me access it. It says that the drive must be formatted, but the drive is good. It is a maxtor HD BTW.

Any ideas on how to make windows stop saying that? The drive still has the info on it because someone had me try the program on www.runtime.org and it found everything, but I dont have the $80 to activate that program.

2 physical drives or are they partitioned on one drive......if they are on one then the format process might have deleted the partition rendering that part of the drive unusable..

Two different hard drives. A 30 GB HD and a 60 GB HD. The 60 gig is maxtor and I believe the 30 GB is Seagate.

got a second computer you could pop the slave in to test it out?

otherwise you could try poping a boot floopy in and seeing if you can access it before you get into windows to more or less rule out the new windows install

Did you by any chance have that hard drive set as a dynamic disk before the reinstall? I've seen that cause this same problem more than once. If so, you're probably screwed.

You may also want to try installing SP2 and see if there's a fix somewhere in there for this scenario.
