Having some trouble with a new partition setup.
A "property" query for the whole partition (Local ( C: ) Properties) is showing 3.97/5 GB
A "ctrl+a" properties query for the whole partion (from the same level) is showing 1.51 GB..

And I'm having trouble finding this hidden 2.5 GB, so... any suggestions or things to try would be nice.

A) You have 1GB of RAM.
B) You have left the pagefile with a system managed size. This accounts for 1.5GB of the missing space.
C) You have left Hibernation on, this accounts for the other missing 1GB.

Visit the Operating Systems to learn about page file tweaking and its pitfalls. Such matters will not be discussed here, although I will gladly move this thread there if you want to discuss with the folks that hang out in OS.

To turn off hibernation, presuming you'll never use it: Control Panel\Power Options\Hibernate Tab, clear check box, click ok. That will get you 1GB back.

oo, thanks, I totally forgot about both of those ^_^

After about a month, HP finally sent me the part I needed (after doing nothing but dumbshit until now) and I forgot about all the settings I had changed a year ago.
