I'm not new to tweaking computers, I know my way around the majority of settings in windows xp, and have built quite a number of computers over the years, however i'm experiencing a problem i cant quite understand.
whenever I right-click anywhere on my desktop(not on icons or windows) the computer lags for about half a second until it brings up the little menu, it doesnt happen when right-clicking on windows or icons. I can start with almost nothing running and have the bare minimum loaded but "explorer.exe" in the windows taskmanager goes psycho when I right-click. Cant explain it.. Ive reformatted many times, the first time I enter windows after the install it is smooth, but after I install ONLY the necessary mobo, vid, app drivers, it starts laggin. on my dads/brothers/friends computers who all happen to be running windows xp home (mine is pro) dont have this issue. It is extremely smooth on their systems which dont come close to mine in specs..their comps are also riddled with spyware and are untweaked/unmaintained..

Shuttle SB83G5
P4 550 @ 3.8 (stable as a rock)
1gig OCZ gold rev2 pc4000
6600gt
74gig raptor
dads system:
gateway
p4 1.8 ghz
256 mb pc2100
geforce 4 mx400
40 gig IDE hdd
friend's system:
athlon xp 1800+
512 kingston valueram 2700
ati radeon 8500
ide 60 gig hdd
...im at a loss of what to do, ive tried every tweak guide and have searched all around...I', also running a dual display, I disabled it and the problem still occurs so that probably isnt the cause...
any help will be appreciated
