When windows comes to the screen to install the OS and once i press enter for the new install (where you can choose to repair or do a new install) it says that there is no hard disk drive found and that i need to press f3 to restart check with disk config.

BIOS is recognizing the drives.....they are set to on!

i've tried to install it on other hard drives and the computer still does the same thing.

Im trying a clean install from scratch. One hard drive is a seagate 160gb and the other is a maxtor 250gb(which the os had crashed on it previously).

I've tried it both on a DELL XPS and DELL 8400 with the same results. Any help would be greatful!

Sounds like you'll be loading those controller drivers from a floppy, using the F6 option.
