Windows XP Crazyness Issue

Ok, i have 2 issues with windows XP.

1. Periodically the system asks me to put my windows XP cd into the drive, becasue some needed windows files have been changed.

2. When I run windows update, and finish installing updates and restart. When i return to the page, the same updates are there saying i havent installed them.

I tried doing a repair install of windows, and nothing has happened. Only thing thats changed is now some of my programs have to be reisntalled :/ .

Any ideas / help would be greatly appreciated. And sadly formatting is not an option. (I Formatted Within a Month Ago too)
 
Are you running antivirus and is it current?

System restore is what is triggerring the "some files have changed" message.
 
found viruse pe_bagle.n and am activley erradicating it. Damn thing, hopefully this will clear up both those issues. If not ill repost.
 
lol, yeah

I activley killed the dang thing, and now i gotta do a repair install of windows to replace some of the files that had to be deleted. And of course, i cant find my windows cd :confused:
