Can you guys post any screenshots, info, or any other information about the new windows XP64.

I hear it no longer has the "XP style"... but is back to the old win 2000 look. I also hear its not as user friendly as XP.

Anyone notice any increased performance over Windows XP?

I wish i could try this out, but i don't have a amd 64 yet, and i don't know anyone who has one. ~_~

p.s., i wonder if they will add that shity activation crap like they did with xp. (i hope not).

Why would they add activation to a free, time-limited pre-release trail?

If you are worried about ease of use, the only reason it would't be as user-friendly would be because you had a aproblem obtaining drivers. other than that, everything runs about the same. IE is a little wierd, i ended up using the 32bit version because of a lack of plugins etc.

Oh, i was talking about:

I wonder if they will add "activation" to their finished, Retail, product. I have a funny feeling they will, but here's to hope!

Ah, sorry mate, well I would imagine they will add PA and just like XP Pro, I will replace my retail version with a VL version the first time i have to re-load it anyway.

I played with it a LONG time ago when we got our Itanium development box from Intel at work. It was SLOW as balls. I am sure it has been optimized since then, that was quite a while ago. I don't know how much effort Billy boy is going to get into it though seeing as how he stated he has no interest in 64-bit computing at the moment. Who would ever need more than 4GB of RAM, right?

This must be an entirely new OS from what you tested, this one specifically does not work on an Itanium system.....

"Important: Windows XP 64-Bit Edition for 64-Bit Extended Systems is only compatible with 64-bit AMD Opteron– or Athlon 64-based computers. It cannot be successfully installed on 64-bit Intel Itanium–based systems."

Anyone who is trying it out... How is the 32-bit sub-system?
Can someone who is running it compare there 3DMark scores / framerates with that of those on XP Pro?

if drivers from 32bit xp will work in 64bit version ..will try out on my Athlon64 setup once newegg gets it here
