This is on a dell laptop. Windows 2000 does not start at all, just says disk read error press ctrl/alt/del to restart.

When I use Fdisk the partition is still there and I am using some software from bootdisk.com and can see all my data when using this bootable floppy. When i use the windows 2000 disk to try and repair it wont even get into setup, it just says I/O error and freezes. When I use an XP cd it enters setup correctly. I have tried running chkdsk and it says that there is an unrecoverable error. I know I can wipe it clean and put XP on but I want to save my data.

You got any ideas on what I can do. Keep in mind its a laptop so I can slap it into another computer...
