Windows wont load up

I justed updated my norton antivirus software using live update and after it is done updating, it ask's to restart itself. So I click okay and after the restart windows wont boot up. After that, I say, hmm that is weird. So I turn off my system and put my xp pro cd in the drive and choose to reinstall windows xp pro. So it says it is checking to see if the system hardware is capable and then the screen turns black for the rest of the time. So put partition magic 8 in and after that I try to reformat the hdd to ntfs and I get a partition table 110 error on the hdd and the volume label is bad? Does anyone know what happened? This is a samsung hdd 80gb PATA hdd.
 
hmm i was able to load linspire on the hdd, but windows xp pro wont work!
