windows xp cannot format any removeable storage drives, such as floppy or mp3 players
it says the item is not formatted, then asks to format it
i attempt, and then it fails right when it finishes
anyone know how to fix this?

check "quick format" box when you format anything like that. I have an LS120. It will full format 1.44 floppies OK but, it hangs, same as you describe, on the 120mb disks, unless I check the "quick format" box when I format them. Same goes for my usb flash drive. Hope it helps. With regular 1.44 floppies I would swap out your floppie cable to see if that is a problem. It should full format those without issue.

quick format doesnt work either
and changing out the floppy drive cord didnt help
i dont think the problem has anything to do with the floppy drive, like i thought earlier
because i tried a mp3 player and it says it needs formatted, and i try and it does the same crap as the floppy drive
