windows update failures ?

I haven't updated windows7 for almost a year, same with security essentials and malwarebytes.
I had success with MSE and malwarebytes but when I updated my win7 I had success with only 9 of 63 updates and after trying several times I finally went to troubleshooter and clicked through a few different times.
The updates seem to not install, like maybe they all are written, just not installing.
I also successfully updated my P8Z68-V bios.
The windows updater will not automatically update and install my updates.
What am I doing wrong?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You may have to install some of these manually, I've seen this before on machines that haven't been updated for a while. You can get the installation packages of all the updates from here: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx

For this many updates it could take a while as you need to get all of the KB numbers in Windows Update one by one and download and install each.

good job, heatlessun.. great hep..and that as indeed the solution... glad it worked out for you goneflat.. try not to let any os get that far behind in the future though..its creates significant risk..
