... i'm trying to get all my updates up to date before installing SP2, but there's one update that I haven't been able to install for quite a bit of time. I get the following error and code readings after doing an update:
Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (KB961371) - Failed
Error Found: Code C0000005

I've tried stopping and restarting the Windows Update service in Command Prompt as directed by Windows Help but that didn't solve anything.
I've even downloaded the exact update standalone from Microsoft's website and I still can't install it...

Any ideas on how to install this successfully?

One other thing... before I tried to install this update, I attempted to install SP2, but after it creates a restore point and scans the system, it says Installation was Unsuccessful and to make sure the Update readiness tool is installed... where do I find that and is it really needed?

Thanks for your help guys!

EDIT: I was forgot to point out that while the system tries to install the update above (SQL), this window pops up called HotFix and says to close the program or get help/send information to Microsoft...

Having issues with installation of the hotfix... it asks for you to click on the box for items you want Updated and I when I click on the boxes, they do not fill in. Also when you click on a box, there's a section to the right that says Status: Not Vaild

Try installing the SP2 from the link I gave you. :)

For Vista or SQL?

This is the error message I get when HotFix (from Windows Update) says Stopped Working:

Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit - Running Service Pack 1
System is in my sig (desktop)...

All drivers and other updates are current, except for this SQL update...

Alright I got SP2 to install... but the SQL update still appears in Windows Update.

Any ideas...?

See if you can find the KB for that patch and see if a seperate download is offered for it and try installing it that way.

I tried that before installing SP2, but i"ll give it a shot now that SP2 is installed... :)
