Windows Update and drivers

do you guys let windows update ever update your drivers for various things like sound cards and such. whenever i let it scan for updates it always comes back with drivers with older dates than what i have currently installed. do most people just ignore the drivers windows says to install and manually update with drivers from the manufacturers websites?
 
I always ignore the drivers updates. You can find newer and probably better drivers at the manufacturer's website.
 
well i ask because after installing an update for my onboard sound it doesnt work anymore :p
