Windows Thunderbolt port with Apple Thunderbolt Display?

When you can finally find a Windows TB port, maybe. Who knows if and or how the drivers would work for it. But it is all but academic as TB does not exist on PC hardware yet in the wild within my knowledge.

MSI has a board out right now, The Maximus V Extreme will also have it.

ASUS offers Thunderbolt upgrade card for some 7-series motherboards

It would be surprising, to say the least, if ASUS and others did not test their solutions on the Apple Thunderbolt Display.

I'm betting it'll work but isn't that Apple display controlled somewhat through Mac OS like the brightness and so the brightness might not be adjustable?

I'm having a lot of trouble seeing the wonder that is Thunderbolt.
It is way too expensive - price some Thunderbolt cables!
It is completely Intel proprietary - which may have something to do with Apple's fascination with it.
USB3
DisplayPort.

The potential to daisy-chain is pretty cool, however......

It seems okay, my question would be if video cards will have a thunderbolt output anytime soon? If not then apple really limited the potential customers for this display.

Actually we don't need TB ports on video cards. Intel's new TB motherboards have a feature called Virtu. You plug a monitor such as the Thunderbolt ACD27" into the TB port on the motherboard, but your PC will still utilize the discrete graphics card you have installed in your PCIe slot. Pretty cool. ;)

I don't really see daisy chaining as a big advantage? So you go TB to external drive, to display 1, to display 2. You drive craps out, both displays are down until you rewire. I just feel daisy chaining to be a bit old school.

It saves you from buying a hub, but it also brings back the fun old days of thick- and thinnet coax networks :D Drops and terminators included...

I find hardware to be quite reliable these days. While failing hardware is an inconvenience, a neater cable setup with thunderbolt is worth the potential hassle of rewiring.
