I have been running the 6.23 Windows SMP mpich client on my quad core for quite some time now. It starts via "C:\Folding\Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe -smp" shortcut in the startup folder.
I restarted the other day and it failed to come back up. I tried launching it manually, and the CMD prompt pops up for half a second, then disappears.
- tried running install.bat again. No errors, but still the same problem.
- tried launching C:\Folding\Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe -smp from cmd prompt... no errors, but no folding either.
- did a full uninstall and reinstalled a new package downloaded from Stanford..... no errors but still no folding.
- Does not run long enough to even generate a log file.
I have been folding for years now and can't think of anything else to try.
needless to say, it pains me to see 4 cores sitting idle... and my room is starting to get cold!
