Does any one know if Microsoft still offers these? They had all the updates for window 98 ME XP ect up until October 2003. Mine was recently lost stolen or something I cant find it for the life of me. I would like to get another one, because it is handy to have around when you have 60% windows 98 workstations. If any one knows where i can get one of this let me know I would even be willing to pay for a burnt copy of one at a resonable price.

Those folks have put together a couple of terrific patchs for 98SE. The 98SE Service Pack 2.0 Final and the 98SE2ME program (need a WinMe cd for that to work) make 98 run so well I wonder if I'll ever use XP again. Well, my newest system castrates my Ms-Dos Mode memory (uses conventional memory) so I use XP on that.

But, those programs include many, many hotfixes that fix tons of bugs in 98SE. Most of these hotfixes are things that Microsoft now only will sell to you if you call them on the telephone! All are needed to make 98SE work at its most robust and bug free as is possible. Gettting all the Windows Updates the official way will not give you these fixes.

These programs will fix things up so you won't want to buy XP. That's why Microsoft makes you buy the patchs and hotfixes if you can figure out which ones you need on your own. These guys have done all the work and testing.

You don't need the Security Updates cd. This stuff is completely up to date. It's not some weird codec pack that you need to worry about messing up your system. It's just Microsoft updates all collected and you just doubleclick the setup and it does it all automatically.

Thanks for the links, ill have to check them out. I did get the cd iso from another member though. The ones that you have linked sound a bit better than the one that Micro$oft puts out.
