In the device manager my SATA HD is labeled as a SCSI device? Is this normal? Will it affect performance?
When I last installed XP (SP2 edition) it automatically installed scsi drivers instead of letting me install sata drivers from a floppy.

Thanks, i'd rather it say sata but if its not affecting performance or start up times I can care less.

It's just the nature of how windows recognizes the hardware and the way the drivers are written. It's normal.

SCSI command set == better than IDE, and therefore even some IDE devices talk SCSI. (CD-Recorders for example.)

SATA and USB are generally (esp. in Linux) handled as SCSI devices.

THanks for the info guys. I wana update the drivers though. Windows says they are from 2003. THere has to be something newer then that.
