My current windows has got quite a lot corrupted... but unfortunately i have quite a lot of programs and documents residing on it.. and i am not in a position to format and reinstall... so i was thinking either to use some sort of registery editor or go for a repair thru windows built in repair facility...

My experience with registry editors are not very good and the most terrible features of them is that they never get uninstalled easily... so i m thinking of opting the route of windows repair...

so if any of you have any suggestion regarding it... or any past experience with windows repair which he will like to share will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

i m using windows xp professional edition. i don;t know if i have installed service packs or not... but i did install quite a few security updates but left them some time ago..

If you repair install an XPSP2 box, with either an SP1, or Gold CD. You will need to apply SP2 after the repair install.

Otherwise it will work fine.
