I'm trying to recover some files off a dying SATA drive that a non-working Windows XP Pro SP2 is installed on. I installed XP on seperate IDE hard drive, and created the windows recovery console from there. I restarted the computer, and had the option to start the recovery console.

However, once it starts, it says it can't find my SATA drivers (3114r). I had them slipstreamed into my xp install disk, which is in the cd drive at the time. As well, I'm assuming they would also be on the IDE drive. At any rate, where is the recovery console looking for the driver so I can just put it there?

Thanks.

It's looking for a floppy disc, same as the F6 option when you first install XP, assuming they weren't slipstreamed in.

Seems that it was looking for a .sy_ copy of the file in the recovery console folder. Once I put a copy there, it worked. Unfortunately, I was not able to get stuff of the drive this way. Looks like I need to pull out some bigger guns to attack the problem with.
