Windows not recognizing my dvd writer?

Hey guys,

I recently put together a fancy-schmancy DS3/Core2 computer, and I bought this DVD/CD writer:

Just a plain old Lite-On 16x DVD/CD writer. Problem is, windows doesn't recognize it as a burner. It reads just fine, and in windows explorer when the drive is empty it's listed as a "DVD-RW Drive", but it won't let me write any files to it. Media Player says "No CD or DVD burner has been detected" and windows explorer doesn't let me drag-and-drop items to the drive.

Any idea what I missed?

bad drive maybe?

Are you sure you jumpered the drive correctly? I'm assuming it is the Master on the channel with no other devices as Slave. Check the maunal to see if you need a special setting for it to be a single device.
