Windows NNot properly detecting drive

The drive shows up in the device manager but windows says it cant fin the driver? Where can I find the windows XP DVD ROM drivers online?
 
Try windows update. I've had it find hardware drivers on a number of clean installs before. If that doesn't work try update driver in device manager and select search the internet when searching for drivers.
If that doesn't work you're gonna have to open up the box and determine the maker and go to their web site.
 
windows shouldn't require any additional drivers for cd-rom/dvd drives. did you just install a new drive? if so, did you make sure it's jumpered correctly? (ie: master, slave, cable select)
in device manage, right click on the drive, select uninstall and then reboot. windows should detect it and set it up.
 
The dirve shows up as Channel 2 Master in the Bios, and windows detects the drive fine, but it says it cant find the drivers for it (Under Driver status it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)").

I tried another drive and I get the same message so I'm pretty sure my the driver somehow got deleted or corrupted. The DVD Burner Model is TDK 420N, I looked on the TDK website but they dont seem to have DVD Drive Drivers posted.

Can anyone send me the DVD Drive Driver that comes with windows XP? Or direct me to a place online that has the driver?
 
if it has an exclimation point on it go into its properties and see what is wrong with it. I had this at home and it was a registry problem. I tired everything and nothing worked except the good ol format and re-install. hopefully yours is a different problem though.
 
Thanks for the help guys, I searched the windows knowledge base and found what I needed, Apperantly when I deleted some program it messed up the drivers. Had to delete a folder and edit the registry.
