I was browing through different versions of Windows and saw that Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition supports more than 4 gigs of RAM. I thought 32bit operating systems do not support more than 4 gigs. Just wondering why they couldn't do the same for 32bit versions of XP and Vista.

Server uses PAE. XP and Vista don't because if driver issues that home users would encounter.

Some time ago I read an article by a techguy that had analyzed the vista kernel. By patching just 7 bytes, he bypassed the hardcoded 4GB limitation in the PAE kernel

So you take for granted that there are 64 bits to address physical memory with?

If we're going to be all precise about it, current 64-bit cpu's do not have 64-bit memory addressing, they 'only' have 48-bit memory addressing. that's still a crapload of address space.
