You might be able to do an upgrade since the Media Center components are included on a 2nd disc.

No. Microsoft purposefully does not make upgrade discs for MCE. You'll have to get the full version and then make a clean install.

As I understand it, there is a way to do it by sysprepping the machine. As long as you are going from XP pro, you can use your MCE key and do some special things in the sysprep.inf file to make it work. Let me see if I have a link... ok, I don't have the XP to MCE, but I do have the XP to tablet, it's here:

It should be similar. Just google it and see. I know that I did see something on going to MCE as well as tablet...

I've seen that tried, it doesn't work. You have to start from a clean install.
