I was looking into trying out MCE 2005 to determine if I will like it. The only way I can see this possible is to buy the cd's and install it, try it out for 15 days without activating it and see if it suits my needs. If I do not activate it will it have all of its features and will I be able to sell it to another person with the activation code valid?

I figure this is possible but I thought I would check to make sure before I waste $120.

I am not sure about that. but, MCE 2005 is really just designed for the people that want a product that works easily. it is not very custumizable, the TV recordings are in a non-standard fromat, and it is fairly hardware intensive.

Yes, it is fully functional without activating it. I tried my legit copy out on a test box to work out bugs and see if I liked it, and then later installed it on my real HTPC without any problems.

if you do not activate it after 30 days it locks you out from logging in

but you can also only activate each key once.

I'm starting to dislike MCE more and more. I've never seen a more clunky music interface than the one in MCE. Coming from winamp 2.8, I'm wondering why they made the MCE music interface akin to wrestling a bear with both of my arms tied behind my back?
