Windows Live up date problem!

I have GTA IV and I have not been able to enjoy the game becaseu I can't save. I can't save becasue I need to be logged into Windows Live. I can't log into Windows Live becasue the Update to Windows Live fials every time I try to get it to work.
The Windows Live Support page is a POS that is like reading through a text book.
I downloaded GFWLsetup exe but it doesn't seem to make this problem go away.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I had this problem once. I uninstalled th GFWL software from the control panel and reinstalled it from http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/index.aspx. Then I reran the game and it fixed itself. It was Fallout 3 I believe.

Umm... I'll take a stab....disable any Firewalls and close Peer Guardian if it is open.

I found the cause of the problem. I had a few Ports on my router that were closed and needed to be manually opened! Once I opened the various TCP and UDP ports, the updater worked first try and I am now able to play GTA IV.

I don't knoww about you but I fucking hate GFWL.. Its just garbage. So many of my fav game need it. IE DoW2. I don't fucking want to login to play skirmish against CPU. I could care even fucking less about useless achievements.
