I have a little assignment to do for next week, which consists of finding a "Bottleneck" (as the prof says) , i think he's talking about tweaking, a performance aspect of any operating system. I can use any language i want, i was wondering if anyone has ever done something to this respect in Windows Home Addition using VB? , i was thinking of Increasing boot time, or trying for a memory tweak. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

  1. Figure out what part of the system you feel is a "bottleneck."
  2. Diagram how you feel that "bottleneck" could be opened up.'
  3. Make a chart following the steps to open up said "bottleneck."
  4. Write code to perform the steps laid out in your chart.

How is this a problem? Or are you asking for someone to do it for you or help you do it? No matter what, you have to decide what aspect you can realistically consider a bottleneck. For example: boot time—what in the boot process is slowing it down? What do you think would make it work faster?

I have gotten' a little further with your advice. Thank you. I have decided on a Boot time optimization program (using strickly the registry), i have done hundreds of searches for almost the last 5hours on tweaking boot time. Most of the stuff had to do with the prefect files. Does anyone have any boot registry tweaks that they know of??

thanks
