Hey guys, well Im going to be building a home server with WHS installed.

But im wondering what software people run on top of the WHS OS.

Things I would like is file storage, print server, ftp server, web server for testing asp.net sites, torrent server, streaming server - dvd rips and music files.

But if you have WHS installed for any other reason, please list what you use it for and the software you use.

For file storage, and probably print storage, you don't need any software for it. WHS is basically Server 2003 with a simple front end, so chances are, if it works on Server 2003, it will work on WHS. I also believe you can get plug-ins for Torrenting, and possibly the FTP and web server apps as well. WHS already streams to an Xbox360, if you have one as well. I never used my WHS copy, as it is sitting on my desk, waiting to be put in a for sale thread, but this was all from some quick searching online.

As Deacon said, WHS is essentially Server 2003 with a pretty front end via client software. If you remote in, it's exactly like a Server 2003 machine. I currently have Squeezecenter installed for my Squeezeboxes and WSUS for my network updating service.
