I'm looking for a way to do a HDD / storage stress test in Windows. What's the simplest app for this?

Do a full format or 2. Then look at the SMART status using a program like CrystalDiskInfo.

If you can not overwrite the data HDTune has a disk test (error scan) also you can execute a SMART long test from a variety of software.

There is a Windows version of Seatools & WD DLG.

Either of those will execute a SMART long test. Make sure you choose the long extended / long test over the short / quick test.

Sorry for not being more specific. I think the HDD is fine, no problems after replacing processor, motherboard and memory. I think the (previous) motherboard is bad as memtest reports no errors and the BSODs I get seem to happen during disk activity.
So it'd like a way to verify this theory.
