I've had this error before, and usually I just format.
I just wanted to check if there was any other solution.
I am getting the error while writing to my Raid 5 array, and if I have to format, I'd like to make sure I won't have to format this drive.
I should only have to format my OS drive, right?

Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

The ONLY time I have ever gotten this error was because a drive cable had worked loose, making the drive physically inaccessible. It is very bad news - I'd make sure that your RAID array is healthy and that all of the drives pass manufacturer diagnostics. A backup wouldn't hurt either.

When I said I've gotten this before, I meant on other systems.
I haven't gotten it on this system before this.
I think it happened because my PSU blew.
But I will look into doing a diagnostic, thanks.

If the error is associated with the OS drive and you have a Hardware ARRAy ... then yes you should only have to reinstall the OS.

As DougLite suggested, check your cables and termination. If possible check the power supply rails under load to make sure that you have an adequate power supply and that it is in proper order.

Best of Luck!
